What you are buying

A BCD door arrives finished, so there is no painting, sealing or maintenance schedule to keep up with. Check the handing, the structural opening size and the required U-value before ordering, since composite doors are made to the set sizes rather than trimmed on site.

Who BCD are

BCD build external door sets rather than bare leaves, which is the important distinction when you are replacing a front or back door. A door set arrives as a matched leaf, frame, weather seals and threshold designed and tested to work together, so the finished opening performs as intended instead of depending on how well a leaf was fitted into an old frame on site.

What to check before ordering an external set

Measure the structural opening rather than the old frame, and record the brick-to-brick width and height plus the depth of the reveal. Note which way the door should open and which side the hinges go, because an external set is handed and cannot be reversed later. Check the threshold detail against the finished floor level inside and the drainage outside, and confirm the U-value if the work falls under building regulations.
