Common questions

Do black doors show dust?

They show dust and fingerprints more than white and less than a high gloss surface. A laminated or matt finish hides both better than satin.

Will black doors make a small room feel smaller?

They will if the walls are also dark. Against pale walls the contrast reads as architecture rather than as bulk. Glazing removes the risk entirely.

Can I mix black doors with oak elsewhere?

Yes, but not on the same landing. Keep one finish per sightline and let a change of floor level mark the change.

What skirting and architrave suit black doors?

White painted trim gives the sharpest outline. Painting the architrave black extends the frame and makes the opening look taller. Both are stocked at door architraves and skirting.

Is black going out of fashion?
