2 Panel Internal Doors

The two panel door divides the leaf into a single tall panel above and one below, giving the cleanest and most contemporary of the panelled patterns. It reads as modern without being flat, which is why it works in new build hallways and in period rooms where a six panel door would be too fussy.

Choosing a two panel door

Because there is less framing, the panel proportion carries the whole design, so check the mid rail height sits comfortably with your handle position. Finishes run from white primed and grey to oak and walnut.

Fewer, larger panels mean fewer mouldings and a calmer face than a four or six panel door, which is why the pattern sits comfortably in both period rooms and contemporary interiors. Proportion is what makes it work

Because there are only two panels, the position of the mid rail carries the whole design. A mid rail set just above centre reads as traditional and lengthens the door visually; an equal split reads as modern and squares it off.
