An FD30 door is certified to resist fire for 30 minutes when hung as part of a complete, tested assembly. It is the rating Building Regulations ask for between a house and an integral garage, on habitable rooms opening onto the stairway of a three-storey home, and on flat entrance and corridor doors.

What an FD30 installation needs

The leaf on its own is not compliant. Fit intumescent strips and smoke seals into the leaf or frame, hang the door on CE-marked fire rated hinges, and add a door closer where self-closing is required. Keep gaps to around 3mm and stay inside the manufacturer's trimming allowance.

Where 60 minutes is specified use FD60 fire doors. Finish options include oak, white, black and grey, vision panels are in glazed fire doors, and every rating is compared in fire doors.
